Wealth Transfer Planning

Advanced Techniques for Family Business Advisors

Wealth Transfer Planning webinar
“How an Installment Sale to an Irrevocable Intentionally Defective Grantor Trust (IDGT) Works”

Not your run-of-the-mill succession planning webinar!

Learn from the experts at Bernstein Private Wealth Management in this one-hour presentation for members of the Galliard Institute.

Presenters Steve Schilling and Dylan Malot focus on utilizing liquid assets in ultra-high-net-worth families. They offer a sophisticated analysis on advanced wealth transfer techniques for family businesses.

Questions your high-net-worth family business clients might have:

  • How much wealth can be shifted off my balance sheet to my heirs without jeopardizing my long-term spending needs?
  • What estate planning strategies should I consider to reduce my current and future estate tax exposure?

Steve and Dylan will use a case study to demonstrate how you can walk through the answers to these questions with your clients.

About the presenters:

Steve S. Schilling is a Director in Bernstein’s Wealth Planning and Analysis Group and is based in the firm’s San Francisco office. He advises Bernstein’s Bay Area and Pacific Northwest clients regarding complex investment planning issues; his areas of expertise include diversification planning for holders of concentrated portfolios, multigenerational wealth transfer, philanthropy and pre-transaction planning. Schilling joined the firm in 2000 and has been a member of the Wealth Planning and Analysis Group since 2003, serving as an analyst and senior analyst before becoming a Director in 2009. Schilling earned a BA in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.

Joseph Dylan Malot is a Vice President and Financial Advisor in the San Francisco office of Bernstein. Prior to joining the firm in 2015 he was a financial advisor with MassMutual in San Francisco. He earned a BA in philosophy and psychology from the University of California at Davis.
